One last time we started our Gibson V8 engine in Chequered Flag Simsport WSCC endurance series on rFactor2. The season drew to a close with 6 hours of fast paced racing at Sebring.
It had been a season of many highs and lows. At times our LMP2 squad showed moments of brilliance, all drivers having progressed since last year. Second and third in the first 2 rounds made us dream of a championship victory.
In the following races bad luck and errors marred our results, even if they did provide valuable learning moments. The story was a similar one for our GT3 Corvette, which struggled to convert its front running pace into points. Thus, we have to congratulate the #01 Rookie Monsters LMP2 and the #18 SIMCO GT3 cars on winning the championships this year.
The last race
For all that happened, we were all the more eager to end it on a high. Promptly, our LMP2 pilot Timothy Goya put in his best qualifying of the season. In the race he was able to go the insane pace at the top of the field. We then consolidated our position and didn’t let some small mishaps shake our focus. The closing stages saw us fend off a strong charge from the Rookie Monsters car which was coming through the field after previous issues. Finally, our three man team brought home a strong P3, rewarding us for the hard work we had put in thus far.
Saying goodbye
As, sadly, CFS has announced they will no longer be hosting races, we say thank you for allowing us to make our first mark in rFactor2 endurance racing and for helping shape GOTeam into what we are today. We wish the CFS team all the best with their future adventures into the world of in-real-life racing.
