Trying to summarize the past month will not be easy with so much going on across the team. The team now consists of five drivers who are active across the two most prominent virtual motorsport platforms – iRacing and rFactor 2. Besides three of us are battling it on the gokart scene with the 1.5h endurance rentalkart series held at Göteborg gokartcenter
Georgi and Oliver are currently focused on the BTCC Swedish cup on rFactor 2. After a very controversial 1st round with incidents in the first two races and the final race won by Georgi, our drivers carried on to the 2nd round with severe penalties. The qualifying started very well with Georgi getting P3 while Oliver doing solid P14. However, both had penalties meaning move down 10 and 4 places respectively in the grid.
In the first race both drivers were on the Harder compound which was not up to the job and they struggled with pace despite good starts, Oliver finished in P13 and Georgi in p15 snatching the last point. Race 2 included a big accident in Turn 1 where Georgi fell victim of incident behind and got severe damage, after 2 minutes in the pit for repairs he recovered up to P16 losing the chance to score again. Oliver had a stable race and finished P11. The third race started well but bad luck again struck Georgi when a big pile up in lap 1 left a spinning car that he had no chance to avoid. Similar situation leaving him out of points in P16 again. Oliver had even better pace than Race 2 and fighting for 8th had a mistake and dropped him to P11 in the end.
To sum up – unlucky weekend for Georgi despite his good pace while Oliver showed great improvement in his consistency and pace. Things look good for next round at Thruxton.
Next race 6th December with Qualifying starting at 21:15 CET at the above Youtube channel.
Following up GOTeam participation in the iRacing series, our latest recruitment Alejandro finished 5th in his Skip Barber series division. That is the result of serious practice, dedication and victories! His plan is to continue his focus in the skippy for the next season and aims to score over 800 points. Oliver has finished the rookie Stock Car series with victories and podiums in the last weeks of the competition what made him climb to the 21st place overall. He is eager for bigger challenges next season and he will start participating in the competitive Nascar Xfinity Series.
Ricker had a really good month achieving a direct promotion to licence C on road and securing promotion for licence B by the end of season. Moreover, an improved position in the Mazda MX-5 global series was achieved. Ricker continues to be a very versatile racer who shows speed on both road tracks and ovals. He plans to take part of the IMSA and BlancPain sprint series next season, as well joining the NASCAR Xfinity series in the oval discipline. Ronnie has also finished his participation in the Rookie street stock series and has started training in the Nascar National series aiming to join Oliver and Ricker in the Nascar Series.
On the gokart track the team participated in the 2nd round of the LeMans cup. The team showed much better pace this time starting with P3 in qualifying. A small lost of concentration in the pit window caused extra time in the pit and a 10 sec penalty. Even though we had great pace and had the 2nd fastest time of the day. We came 5th after the 10 sec penalty only 2 seconds after P4. Good job by our reserve driver Greg who drove well to substitute Oliver. Next round we are aiming at P3. Ronnie continued his participation in the Open Grand Prix with the electric karts at gokartcentralen. This time setting his new personal record and reaching the podium in the Final B. his consistency place him in a temporal 7th place in the general standings
Finally, December started with the GOTeam Racing virtual track day. Our drivers were testing different GT3 cars at the beautiful circuit of Road Atlanta in order to choose the right machine for the Blancpain and IMSA series in iRacing.
